C David Tabler was born in Rochester, Indiana on March 20, 1943, to Cecil and Fern Tabler. He grew up in Fulton County and graduated from Rochester High School in 1961. He then attended Owosso Bible College where he graduated in 1965. He met his wife Ruthann while in college and they were married for 61 years. After graduating from Bible College, he pastored in Fayette, Michigan, and then moved to New Carlisle, Indiana where he pastored for 2 years before moving to Michigan as a youth pastor. He lived in Muskegon, Michigan for the next 30 years and attended Western Michigan University where he earned a Master's degree. He taught at Oakridge Public schools for 28 years before retiring. After retirement he served as an interim pastor in Florida and spent 13 years as an RV park chaplain in Texas. He also served as an on-call chaplain in Michigan and Texas. Dave was an avid runner and participated in several marathons including Chicago. He spent 23 summers doing a 100-mile run for Strides for Life to raise funds for cancer research. He loved life and loved serving his Lord and Savior.
He leaves behind his wife Ruthann and 4 children, Kaye Thompson, Leon Tabler (Kris) Dennis Tabler, and June McGee all of the Muskegon area. 12 grandchildren, Mandy Peneda (Brandon), Jennifer Whisler (Robert), Jeremy Tabler, Joshua Pulsifer (Amanda), Staci Carlson (Kyle), Brooke Miller (Brandon), Cory Tabler, Nathan Tabler (Sarah)Rachel Davis (James), Kyle Tabler, Kaelee Herbert (Aaron), Austin Johnson; and 18 great grandchildren.
No memorial services are planned at this time.
