West Des Moines, IA: C. Michael (Mike) Thompson, 86, West Des Moines, IA, passed away Monday, April 4, 2022 at MorningStar Senior Living.
Mike was born on June 22, 1935, in Franklin, Indiana the son of Dr. Charles H and Saralee (England) Thompson.
He served in the United States Army, stationed in Germany.
Mike spent many years living with his Great Aunt and Uncle on the farm southeast of Princeton, which meant he would ride the same school bus as his future life partner. On June 22, 1957, he married Roberta Ruth Fuller in Princeton, MO. She preceded him in death on May 2, 2020. In 1963, they purchased their first farm and moved to Leon, IA to raise their family, corn, soybeans, hogs and cattle. Mike entered and was successful in many yield contests, served on the Grand River Mutual Telephone Board for 28 years and was part owner in a John Deere Dealership, all while continuing to grow the farm. After retiring from farming, Mike and Roberta moved to Ankeny, IA and built and operated Central Iowa Self Storage. Mike always enjoyed spending time watching his sons compete in athletics and motorsports.
Mike attended the Christian Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Evan Thompson.
Mike is survived by his sons, Chuck (Mikki) Thompson, Bethany, MO, Dave (Joanna) Thompson, Las Vegas, NV, Steve (Kelly) Thompson, Leon, IA and Jim (Tina) Thompson, West Des Moines, IA; 11 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Mike has been cremated under the direction of Roberson Funeral Home, Princeton, MO.
Private Memorial Graveside Services and Inurnment will be held in Princeton Cemetery, Princeton, MO under the direction of Roberson Funeral Home, Princeton, MO. There is no scheduled family visitation. Online condolences may be left at www.robersonfuneralhome.com
