Robert Haymaker Obituary
Robert was born on December 5, 1947 in Princeton, Missouri to Lyman Manvel and Gladys Glendoris (Bloom) Haymaker. He attended and graduated from Mercer High School in 1965. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army, serving from 1967 to 1969 and achieving the rank of Sergeant. He fought with courage in Vietnam for one year. On July 19, 1975, he was united in marriage to Linda Davis.
Robert worked as a machinist at Case IH in East Moline, Illinois for much of his adult life before moving back to Mercer, Missouri to enjoy retirement. He was a longtime member of the VFW in Moline, Illinois and the American Legion in Mercer, Missouri. In his free time, Robert enjoyed reading, watching his beloved St. Louis Cardinals, and working on his property in the country.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Lyman and Gladys Haymaker; and brother, Manvel Haymaker. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Linda Haymaker of the home; daughter, Jill Lyon and spouse Jamie McDaniel of East Moline, IL; sons, Joseph Haymaker and spouse Rebecca of Verona, WI and Jerod Haymaker of Rosemount, MN; sisters, Jennifer Wilson and husband Randy of Princeton, MO, Mary Wilson of Mercer, MO, and Bonnie Eastin and husband Gary of Mercer, MO; and grandchildren, Brennan, Peyton, Jaycie, and Elliot Haymaker, and Ashley Lyon.
Robert was cremated under the direction of Roberson Funeral Home in Princeton, Missouri. The family will hold a celebration of life at the American Legion Community building in Mercer, Missouri on Friday, February 13, 2026 at 11:00 AM. Online condolences can be left at www.robersonfuneralhome.com.
