Major Cain Sr

Cain null Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Rosman-Uehling-Kinzer Funeral Home & Crematory Services on May 11, 2024.
Major Cain Sr. age 79 of Loves Park, Illinois departed this earth to be with his Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ on Sunday, May 5, 2024, peacefully in his home surrounded by his loved ones. Major was born on November 18, 1945, in West, Mississippi to Ethel Rene Cain and Benjamin Cain Sr. Upon moving to Chicago, Illinois his mother met and married George (Papa) Edwards where Major lived until 1970 when he moved to Beloit, WI.
Major Cain led a remarkable life filled with diverse experiences and deep connections with his family, community, and faith. From his various professions to his hobbies and passions, he seemed to embody a zest for life and a genuine love for people.
But perhaps Major's most defining trait was his kindness and willingness to help others. He was a people person through and through, always ready to lend a hand to those in need. His devotion to his faith, evident in his acceptance of Christ-as his Savior and Lord in 1975, gave him a sense of peace and assurance of his afterlife.
Starting with his work history, Major's career spanned different fields, from his time at the Beloit Corporation and the City of Beloit to his ventures in music (Major's Music) and transportation with (M. Cain Transport- Trucking company). His love for driving was evident through his employment at Jelco Bus Company, the City of Beloit and Cooks Logistics.
Major's dedication to excellence, instilled by his mother Ethel Edwards, shone through in all his endeavors. His commitment to doing things wholeheartedly reflected in his approach to work, family, and hobbies. His love for gardening and farming demonstrated his hands-on approach to life, nurturing his own produce and enjoying the fruits of his labor.
Among Major's interests were basketball, fishing, and hunting, which he pursued with enthusiasm. His athleticism on the basketball court was showcased during his time at Stout University, the Harlem Globetrotters farm team and various city leagues. His appreciation for nature extended to his love for the outdoors, where he found solace and beauty in God's creation during his travels across the United States.
Major's marriage to Maxine, who he affectionately called "the love of his life" was the cornerstone of his life, spanning over 50 years of love and companionship. Together, they shared (6) children Roshawnda D. Johnson, Shinette M. Johnson, Tommie Harrell, Leslie, Major Cain Jr., and Nathaniel E. Cain. They also opened their home to foster children, embodying the values of love, generosity, and family.
While Major faced his share of loss, including the passing of his parents, daughters, and grandson, his legacy lives on through the memories shared by his loved ones and the impact he made on those around him. His life serves as a testament to the power of love, faith, and perseverance in overcoming life's challenges and embracing its joys.
Major is survived by his Wife Maxine Cain. Children: Leslie M. (Harold) Luther Sr. of Loves Park, Illinois, Tommie (Theresa) Harrell of Beloit, Wisconsin, Major Cain Jr. (Carrie Howard) of Janesville, Wisconsin, Nathaniel E. Cain (Stephanine Drost) of Beloit Wisconsin. Siblings: Sarah (Julius) Henry of Newnan, Georgia, Benjamin (Harriett) Cain Jr. of Chicago, Illinois, Earlie M. (18) grandchildren, (11) great grandchildren along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Major was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, (2) daughters; Roshawnda D. Johnson, Shinette M. Johnson and one grandson, Buda Johnson.
Major Cain Sr. will be greatly missed, but his memory, love, laughter, and life lessons taught to others will live on and continue to positively impact all who were fortunate to know and love him.

When I think of Brother Major Cain, the first word that come to my mind is encourager. He was a constant source of encouragement to me as a young man. Just last summer (2023), during Jimmy Ruffs funeral service, I inexplicably forgot to mention his name amongst the names of the men of The Beloit Gospel Hall, who served as father figures in my life. Even then after accepting my deepest apology, he still continued to encourage me. This is just who this man was. Always an encourager.
