Caleb Jamari Field, 9, of Princeton, gained his wings May 6, 2023 at Robert Wood Johnson Hospital, New Brunswick.
He was born on December 10, 2013, to Rosa Field in New Brunswick, NJ.
Caleb was a ball of sunshine. Born with trisomy 21 (Downs syndrome), Caleb spent many nights in the hospital. At the age of 10 months, Caleb spent 60 days in the PICU. Then at the age of 3 years old Caleb spent another 90 days in the hospital due to a traumatic brain injury. But that did not stop Caleb from shining bright and bringing light to EVERY person he came into contact with. Caleb was such a feisty little bug. He lived by his own rules. If Caleb wanted to lick you, you were going to be licked. If Caleb wanted to ignore his teachers or didn't want to participate in class, he'd do just that.
Caleb had a deep bond with all of his siblings. As soon as he saw them he would get to cutting up. He may have been immobile but you could see him trying to get up and run with them.
Caleb had an anointing. His spirit had such a strong soothing touch. When Caleb laid his hands on those around him, he put their hearts and minds at ease. He needed no words. All he needed to do was touch them and be near them. His gentle, kind spirit was unmatched.
Caleb's charm brought many people to love him. When people hear his name, a smile crosses their face. His personality was so big. His resilience was a miracle. No matter what he faced, he faced it with a smile. Medical staff loved Caleb. Though they hated to see him in his medical crises, they enjoyed taking care of him. Caleb was deemed a pleasure to care for.
He was preceded in death by his great grandfather, Aurelio DeJesus, great grandmother, Ignacia DeJesus, and cousin, Jamel Hopkins.
Caleb is survived by mother, Rosa Field; sisters, Ananeis Bailey (Darnell), Tiara Edwards (Jada), Trinity Mckenzie, Arianna Mckenzie, Jamiah Field and Kristina Giddens; brother, Gerald "Peanut" Mckenzie Jr.; nephews: Darnell Bailey Jr. and Koda Mckenzie; niece, Allison Mckenzie; grandmothers, Rosa DeJesus and Luedean Pete, and a plethora of aunts, uncles, cousins and special friends.
