Caleb James Nice, beloved son, brother, and friend, passed away unexpectedly at his residence in Cherokee, Iowa, on October 27, 2025, at the age of 25. Born on September 22, 2000, in Sioux City, Iowa, he was the treasured son of William "Bill" and Jennifer (McCrystal) Nice. Caleb's life was marked by his adventurous spirit, profound love for animals, and a unique sense of humor that brought joy to those around him.

Caleb grew up in Sioux City, where he attended school through eighth grade before graduating from Le Mars High School with the Class of 2019. He cherished the memories of his childhood and carried that love for exploration into adulthood, becoming known for his funny personality and vibrant enthusiasm for life.

An extreme pet lover, Caleb took great joy in visiting local humane societies to interact with the dogs. His affinity for animals was matched only by his passion for sports, particularly his memorable trips to Target Field to watch the Minnesota Twins play. Whether it was watching Barney, Cops, Spiderman, or indulging in UFC fights, Caleb's interests spanned a variety of genres that kept him entertained and engaged. His love for tractors and heavy metal music also marked his multifaceted persona, showcasing the diverse aspects of his character.

Among his proudest accomplishments was living independently for the past few years in Cherokee, Iowa. This milestone was a testament to his strength and resilience, qualities that many recognized and admired in him.

Caleb is survived by his loving parents, William "Bill" and Jennifer Nice; his sister, Courtney Brown and her husband, Alaric; his brother, Zack Nice; his grandparents, James "Jim" Sr. and Gloria McCrystal, and Connie Monlux; and his aunts and uncles, including Jill and Tim Travis, Jackie McCrystal, James Jr. and Leah McCrystal, Dawn and Jamie Keatts, Bob and Crystal Nice, and Shannon Nice. He also leaves behind numerous relatives and friends who will forever hold his memory close to their hearts.

Caleb was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Mike Monlux, and his great-grandparents, Earl and June Hebert. His absence will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 31, 2025, at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, located at 3220 Stone Park Blvd, Sioux City, Iowa, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, followed by a Vigil/Remembrance Service at 7:00 PM. Though his time with us was far too short, Caleb's spirit, laughter, and boundless love touched the hearts of everyone he met. He was a true blessing, a light that brightened every room, and his memory will live on in the stories we share, the smiles he inspired, and the love he gave so freely. Caleb may be gone from our sight, but he will remain forever in our hearts. - Courtney McCrystal-Brown
