Caleb Paul Vogtlin, 18, of San Antonio, Texas, passed away suddenly in the early hours of December 17, 2023. Caleb was born on June 22, 2005, in San Antonio, Texas, and he spent almost all his life there.
He is survived by his mother Jennifer, his father Jeffrey, and stepmother Nadia. He is also survived by his older sister Abby, stepsister Maria Julia, and stepbrother Joao. Caleb was the cherished eldest grandson of all three sets of his grandparents (Randy and Linda Holl, Kristi and Victor Castro, and Fred and Linda Vogtlin). He had a very close bond with his four sets of aunts and uncles, and he loved his seven cousins.
Caleb was known for his caring, fun-loving, and determined personality. As an extrovert, he thrived on social interactions and cherished his friendships. He loved racing motorcycles and tinkering with motorcycles and his truck. Caleb had a deep love for music, which brought him joy and comfort. He had a special place in his heart for his family and friends; he was dedicated to their well-being. He always had an eye out for the vulnerable and loved helping in any way he could.
Caleb attended Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran School through fifth grade and attended Alamo Heights ISD for middle school and high school. He had one class left to finish before graduating. He was a very hard worker: serving customers at the Meat Market at HEB, working as a line cook at Main Event, and providing care assistance for his cousins with special needs and working at Longfellow while in Minnesota. Caleb's dedication to his family extended beyond just his relatives. He considered friends part of his extended family, and he made friends wherever he went (work, motorcycle groups, church, etc.).
Caleb was baptized and confirmed at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in San Antonio. He also attended services at Mercy Vineyard Church while living in Minneapolis.
Friends and family are invited to attend the visitation on December 27, 2023, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Mission Park Medical Center Funeral Chapel, located at 8332 Fredericksburg, San Antonio, Texas 78229. A celebration of Caleb's life will be held the next day at 10:00 a.m. at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, located at 6914 Wurzbach Road, San Antonio, Texas 78240. Following the celebration, Caleb will be laid to rest at Resurrection Cemetery at Cordi Marian, located at 11624 Culebra Road, San Antonio, Texas 78253.
After the burial, a lunch and reception will be held at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church. Everyone is encouraged to attend to share memories and enjoy remembering Caleb and all his loves and interests.
If you would like to honor Caleb's love for the vulnerable, contributions can be made to CPath, a local cerebral palsy nonprofit organization, or the Down Syndrome Association of South Texas. This reflects his work with his cousins who have these same special needs.
