On Monday, December 23rd, 2024, our lives were jolted by the loss of a beloved son, brother, cousin, nephew, grandson, and great friend. While he was only with us for 23 years, Caleb Withington touched countless lives in meaningful ways. Above all else, Caleb loved his brother, Joel, and sisters, Lynn and Faith, the most. Whether you were family, friend, or stranger, he would gladly engage in deep, emotional conversations. He was a reliable partner to his coworkers, an exceptional soccer player, passionate about making music, and constantly challenged our perceptions of the world around us. Caleb just had an amazingly beautiful soul, and his love for everyone around him was contagious. He just had a heart for helping others in need, often sacrificing his own.
Caleb was born in Bangalore, India to John and Florence Withington on the fifth of May, 2001. After his parents divorced, Caleb eventually landed in Guwahati, India with his brother Joel (aka JoJo), and his stepmother Naomi. Eventually he was joined by his sisters Lynn and Faith. He helped build Home of Hope, an orphanage caring for nearly 100 children. He thoroughly enjoyed helping wherever he could and playing with all of the other kids.
In 2014, Caleb and his brother, Joel, moved to Akron, Ohio where he lived with his grandmother, Barbara Runge and graduated from Firestone High School in 2020. After high school, Caleb continued playing soccer and learned how to be an independent contractor, installing drywall, flooring, and pretty much anything construction related.
In addition to his parents, grandmother, and siblings already mentioned, Caleb is survived by his uncle Steve Withington, cousins Parker and Meredith Withington who now live in the Milwaukee, Wisconsin area. He’s also survived by Asirvatham Samuel, his Thatha (grandfather), Hanna Chandrakantha, his Paati (grandmother), Allwyn Joshua and Henry Carrision, his uncles, all from Bangalore, India.
While we may never fully understand his loss, we are full of hope, knowing he is with his Heavenly Father.
In lieu of a funeral, a celebration of life will be planned for a later date so that others may join in honoring Caleb.
