Carol A. Markle, 84, of Akron, passed away peacefully on February 11, 2026. She was born in Cleveland, Ohio on January 3, 1942 to the late Glenn and Carrie Wallis. Due to her mother's illness, Carol was raised by her uncle and aunt, Richard and Mabel. She grew up in the North Hill section of Akron and graduated from North High School.
Through her job at Workingmen's, she met John Markle and they married and raised their two daughters in Akron. Carol was a devoted stay at home mom until her daughters were grown. She started a career at Medical Services Bureau and retired after over 25 years of service.
Carol's family meant everything to her. She loved daily phone calls with her sisters, daughters, and grandchildren just catching up and making plans. She will always be remembered for her kind heart and how she made everyone feel special with her thoughtful words.
In her free time, she enjoyed family gatherings and cheering for her beloved Cleveland Browns, Indians, and Ohio State teams. She also loved classic movies and musicals.
In addition to her parents, aunt, and uncle, Carol was preceded in death by her brothers, Bob and David Wallis and sister, Mary Smith.
Carol will be dearly missed by her loving daughters, Kathy (Ron) Wyatt and Tracey (Greg) Westfall; brother, Richard (Pat) Wallis; sisters, Alice (Roger) Hower and Nancy Schilling; grandchildren, James (Angie) Wyatt, Michael (Stacy) Wyatt, and Greg (Amanda) Westfall; and great-grandchildren, Sam, Lucy, Millie, Elliot, and Mackenzie; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Monday, February 16, 2026 from 5-7 followed by a 7:00 pm funeral service at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron, Ohio 44305.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Oak Clinic at www.oakclinic.com.
