William H. "Bill" Markle, of Tellico Village, Tennessee, passed away on January 25, 2026, after courageously facing years of health challenges.
Bill was the adored husband of Judy Groover and devoted and cherished "Bonus Dad" to Denise Groover. Known for his kindness, patience, and quiet strength, Bill most cherished time spent with Judy-golfing, traveling, singing karaoke, and making her laugh with his corny jokes. He and Judy loved hosting overnight guests and was well known for his excellent grilling skills.
Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, cherished son of William Markle and Anna Hopkins Markle, Bill was a proud Vietnam Veteran. When anyone thanked him for his service he would reply from his heart "it was my honor." He had a passion for adventure and the outdoors, enjoying motorcycling, hiking, skiing, and even winter camping. He later embraced long-distance motorcycle riding, proudly completing the "Official Four Corners Tour" in 18 days.
Bill spent his career traveling the country trouble shooting newspaper printing equipment. In retirement, he found fulfillment in running a computer repair business, valuing problem-solving and personal connections.
Bill will be remembered for his adventurous spirit, generous heart, and sharp wit. A Celebration of Life will be held at 12:00 noon on March 14, 2026, at the Founders Chapel of Tellico Community Church. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the charity Bill's favorite charity St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
