Mrs. Callie Evelyn Mutry
Sunrise: October 24, 1930 - Sunset: July 7, 2025
Mrs. Callie Evelyn Mutry was born on October 24, 1930, to the late Johnnie and Berdia Baker, in Conway, Arkansas, who preceded her in death. Callie was educated in the Foreman, Arkansas, public school system. Callie accepted Christ at an early age, and she joined Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Kenwood, Arkansas. Callie moved to Detroit, Michigan, in the 1950s, where she later gave birth to a son, Jerome Baker. Callie later met Theopolis Mutry and married him; to this union, two sons were born, Eric Mutry, who proceeds her in death, and Theodoric Mutry. Callie was a caterer who worked at the Park Sheldon and the Town & Country club. It wasn't just a profession for Callie, it was her passion, her calling. Callie also had a gift of transforming any space into one of peace.
Whether she was cleaning her own home or helping others, she approached every task with care, dignity, and respect. She later began to work for various families, which gave her an opportunity of a lifetime until she retired. Callie was known for her generous heart and overwhelming love for bringing people together through food and hospitality. She was a natural hostess. She found joy in gathering where family and friends come together, even with strangers. Callie took pride in her home, where she grew flowers and plants. Callie Mutry passed peacefully in her home on July 7. 2025
She leaves to cherish in her loving memory her two sons, Jerome Baker and Theodoric Mutry, four grandchildren, Ladaryl Boyd, Theodoric Jr, Tionna Mutry, and Terica Walker, 3 great grandchildren, all of Detroit, MI and three sisters, Alma Jean Downing, Christine Baker, and Betty Jewel Baker, one brother, Lloyd (Penny) Baker, and siblings who precedes her in death, Hattie Gray, Ruth Bannerman, Augusta Baker, Claudia Baker, Mary Baker, Geraldine Wilson and Leonard Baker

I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: and whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die

My Mission Is Complete
My time on earth has ended, and now I'm with my King. I smile down upon you as I listen to the angels sing, I understand your sad, and for that, don't be ashamed, But find peace in knowing my body no longer has pain, I wont say this will be easy or it wont take time to heal, but know that I am happy because at His feet I kneel. When times get hard and you're missing my presence in the air, remember all the laughter and all the times we shared. In life, we have a mission, and with many trials, I have completed mine; So now I'm with our other loved ones who, like me, have done their time. Don't take this as a challenge, instead just one last lesson from me: Continue your mission so one day you too can be free
