Just A Moment To Get To Know
Lois Gillis
Ms. Lois Gillis was born to Arthur and Alice Gillis on April 9th, 1934, in Union Springs, Alabama.
As a child, Lois with her sister, Mattie Godson, relocated with a move to Detroit, Michigan. Lois was employed with the Detroit Public Schools system as a paraprofessional,l where she retired. She took pride in educating and encouraging others to excel in their studies. After retirement, Lois dedicated her time to volunteering at Butzel Recreation Center. For many years Lois enjoyed spending Friday evenings with her closest girl friends, sharing stories and laughing over Hors D' d'oeuvres while playing cards. Lois was an avid reader, enjoyed listening to music, also. a proud Detroit Tigers fan.
Lois was affectionately known in the community for providing love, sound advice, and educating anyone she came across. Our Father in Christ Jesus was the center of Lois' life. She was a faithful member of Greater Christ Baptist Church, where she proudly enjoyed her role with the senior health studies group and ushering during services.
Lois was predeceased in death by alone side her youngest son, Carlton LaMar, her parents Arthur and Alice Gillis, sisters Mattie, Ella, Ida& and Josephine, as well as brother Joe. Lois leaves behind her oldest son, Roderick. grandson Carlton Sanchezz, great-grandchildren Tyana, DaQuan, Leilah, and Tristan. Her 2 great-granddaughters) granddaughter Bella. a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, other family, and friends.
Then shall the dust return the Earth as it was, And the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.
Ecclesiastes 12.7
