Calvin Ackerman age 65, of Lake Park, Iowa, died Wednesday, May 1, 2024, at Aspire Nursing Home in Lake Park.
A funeral service will take place 10:30 AM, Monday, May 6, 2024 at First Presbyterian Church in Sibley with Pastor Jordan Geffre, officiating. Burial will follow the funeral service at Gilman Township Cemetery in Ashton.
Visitation will be from 3:00 to 5:00 PM Sunday, May 5th at Jurrens Funeral Home in Sibley.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Calvin's children.
Calvin Ackerman was born July 18, 1958 in Sheldon, Iowa, the son of Cecil Sr. Ackerman and Shirley Ackerman. He grew up in the Ashton-Sibley, Iowa area where he attended Sibley High School.
He was united in marriage to Cindy Houwen in February of 1976. From this union they had a son, Travis Ackerman. Calvin later went on to remarry Sonya Jean Harms of Sibley, Iowa in 1979. From this union they had 4 daughters Desiree, Jennifer, Maggie, and Abbigail.
Calvin was formerly employed as a construction foreman at Menards. Throughout his life Calvin also worked for various construction companies, owned his own construction company, farmed, and did some trucking. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing cards, riding motorcycle, being with his children and grandchildren, socializing with his friends and having a good time. He will be remembered as a loving father, caring grandfather, and a good friend to those who truly knew him.
Calvin is survived by his son, Travis(Lacey) Ackerman of Brandon, S.D., daughter Jennifer(Thomas) Braun of Sibley, IA, daughter Maggie(Adam) Blume of Worthington, MN, and daughter Abbigail(Thomas) Nalepa of McKinney, TX; grandchildren Xander Ackerman, Rylan Marco, Tate Marco, Kohen Braun, Alaina Reitmeier, Samantha Reitmeier, Brock Blume, Brinley Blume, Bryer Blume, Breka Blume, Olivia Nalepa, Cora Nalepa, and Aidan Nalepa; father, Cecil Ackerman Sr.; siblings, Curt (Sharon), Craig, Corey (Colleen), Chad, Charlie (Brenda), Clint (Lana), Susan (Jeff) Kruger.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Desiree Ackerman; mother Shirley Ackerman; and brother Cecil Jr. Ackerman.
