Rev. Arthur Benjamin Ackerman Jr., 93, of White Oak, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 31, 2026, at Juniper Village at Monroeville. He was born in Donora, on Oct. 31, 1932, and was the son of the late Arthur Benjamin Sr. and Gladys Phythyon Ackerman. Arthur married on Aug. 14, 1954, Lois Cochenour Ackerman, who survives him. Pastor Ackerman graduated in 1954 from Thiel College and in 1959 from the Lutheran Theological Seminary in Gettysburg. He was ordained on March 15, 1959, and served three parishes during his ministry. He retired in 1997 from Faith Lutheran Church in White Oak. In addition to his wife, Arthur is survived by his children, Ardith (Frederick) Mauck, Aaron (Kimberly) Ackerman, and Judith (the late Alfred Pello) Ackerman; grandchildren, Heather (James) Alexander, Megan (Raymond Withers) Grifa, Molly (Joseph) Carso, Eric Mauck; and great-grandchildren, Noel, Morgan, Taylor, James Clifford, Mason, McKynleigh, Adelina, and Eloise. In addition to his parents, Arthur was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Jean Ackerman; and sister, Ruth (the late Thomas) Berch.
Family and friends are invited to gather and honor Arthurs memory from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at noon on Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2026, at STRIFFLERS OF WHITE OAK CREMATION AND MORTUARY SERVICES INC., 1100 Lincoln Way, White Oak, PA 15131 (Sue Striffler Galaski, Supervisor, 412-678-6177). A burial will follow.
