Guy Robert Ackerman

Guy Robert Ackerman, 63, passed away at home on Sunday, January 18, 2026, in Palmerton, PA.

Born on Sunday, February 25, 1962, in Northampton, PA, Guy served in the United States Army for five years as a mechanic, gaining skills and experience that shaped his career. He worked as a heavy machine mechanic and valued his work deeply. Known for his perseverance, quiet strength, and hands-on skills, he was famous for fixing anything; a plaque by his garage read, "If it ain't broke, I fixed it." Growing up, Guy enjoyed showing horses and was active in the 4-H Horse and Pony Club and FFA.

He is survived by his mother, Judy Smickley Horn, and stepfather, Byron Horn; his brothers, Duane Ackerman and wife Josephine, and Todd Ackerman; his nieces and nephews, Marissa Burns, Paul Ackerman, Amanda Skipper, Tina Ackerman, and Brian Ackerman; his life partner, Barbara Ann Thompson; and his beloved dog, Buddy.

He was preceded in death by his father, Frederick Paul Ackerman; maternal grandparents, Morris and Blanche Smickley Shoemaker; and paternal grandparents, Hervey Ackerman and Leona Carey.

In keeping with Guy's wishes, no formal funeral or service will be held. Immediate family gathered privately to say their goodbyes. A remembrance may be held at a later time.

Guy will be remembered for his kindness, loyalty, strong work ethic, love of racing cars, his ability to fix anything, and the memories and skills he shared with those he cherished.

In lieu of flowers, the family appreciates your thoughts, prayers, and kindness.
