Larry Soodeen, a resident of Reeders, Pennsylvania, died on January 6, 2026, at the
age of 67. He is survived by his wife Indra Soodeen (née Lalchan), his daughter, Krystal
Shpeley and her husband Ryan Shpeley, his two sons Lance Soodeen and Cody
Soodeen, his granddaughter Olivia Soodeen, his brothers Noel Soodeen and Dexter
Soodeen, and his sister June Rooplal. He is predeceased by his father Selvon
Soodeen, his mother Zalima Soodeen (née Mohammed).
Larry was born on July 29, 1958, in San Fernando, Trinidad. Larry and Indra were
married on April 2, 1983, in San Fernando, Trinidad and Tobago. He studied at San
Fernando Technical School. Larry worked as an Assistant Lab Technician in Trinidad
and then as a Power Cable Maintainer for The New York City Transit Authority until he
retired.
Larry moved to the United States in 1989 and lived there for 36 years with his family.
His patriotism continued to grow over the years, and he eventually became a
passionate supporter of political campaigning. His love for Trinidad and Tobago never
faded, and he traveled there often to visit relatives and friends. Larry's faith was deeply
rooted in Christianity, and it remained important throughout his life. He found much joy
in attending church activities and lending a helping hand whenever possible. He adored
his only grandchild, Olivia. Larry is loved by all who knew him, and he will be greatly
missed.
Funeral services were held on Monday January 19, 2026, with Chaplain Hermon Simpson officiating,
at the Bensing Thomas Funeral Home, 401 North 5th Street, Stroudsburg.
