Shirley Mae George, 81, of Palmerton, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2025, in the St. Luke's Hospital, Carbon Campus, Franklin Township.

Born on May 16, 1944, in Kunkletown, she was the loving daughter of the late George R. Gower and the late Mary J. (Frantz) Gower.

Shirley graduated from Pleasant Valley High School in 1962 and worked as the secretary for S & S Home Builders, Inc., for 51 years.

She always enjoyed going to the local carnivals and fairs and loved spending time with her friends and family. Most of all, she was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. Shirley will be deeply missed by all her friends and family.

She is survived by her son, Shawn M. George, and his wife, Heidi, of Palmerton; two grandchildren, Nathan George, and his wife, Destiny, and Dakota George; her great-grandson, Levi George; and her former husband, Richard C. George.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her two brothers, Earl Paules and Robert "Bobby" Gower.

Services: A viewing will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 13, from 10-11 a.m. in the Kresge Funeral Home, 1763 Rt. 209, Brodheadsville. Funeral services will follow at 11 o'clock with the Rev. Ann Melot officiating. Burial will follow the service in Jerusalem Lutheran Cemetery, Trachsville.
