Elbert E. "Sonny" Berger, 92, of Swiftwater, PA, passed away Thursday, January 15, 2026, at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Muhlenberg.

He was the loving husband of the late Gloria E. (Person) Berger. They enjoyed 64 wonderful years of marriage together before her passing in 2020.

Born in Trachsville, PA, he was the son of the late Paul C. Berger and the late Pearl (Kreger) Berger.

Elbert was a truck driver for Consolidated Freightways for over thirty years before retiring in 1995. He was a US Army Veteran and a former member of the Winross Truck Collectors Car Club-Pocono Chapter, enjoying his passion for all things truck transportation in his retirement. Most of all, he was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Elbert will be deeply missed by all his friends and family.

Elbert is survived by a son, Gary Paul Berger; a daughter, Cindy Berger and her wife Darlene Wilson; a sister, Marian J. Smith; and two grandsons, Neil and Aaron. In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by two sons, Timmy Berger and Ricky Berger; two brothers, Robert Berger and Paul "Billy" Berger; and two sisters, Mary Jane Jackson and Marjorie Beltz.

No services are scheduled at this time. Cremation will take place in H.G. Smith Crematory, Stroudsburg.

The Kresge Funeral Home, 1763 Route 209, Brodheadsville, has been entrusted with the arrangements.
