Born on October 25, 1937, in River Grove, Illinois, to Arthur and Clara (Daisy) Cappelen, Butch lived a life filled with faith, family, and service.
He proudly served as President of the Minor Little League Baseball, Chairman of the Deacons at Forest Park Baptist Church, and on the Benevolence Committee at First Church of God. A skilled and dedicated painting contractor, Butch worked in his trade for more than 63 years.
Butch found joy in singing, watching football, listening to music, and-most of all-spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Margaret Cappelen, whom he deeply cherished. He is survived by his children Richard (Mary Ann) Cappelen, Michael (Lorraine) Cappelen, and Kimberly Cappelen; six grandchildren, Tiffany, Ricky, Kylie, Katie, Coy, and Clara; and four great-grandchildren, Anderson, Quentin, Tate, and Adalee.
A Memorial Service will be held on November 20, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Calvary Chapel, 941 19th Street, Vero Beach, Florida.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Butch's name to the VNA Hospice Foundation, 920 37th Place, Suite 101, Vero Beach, FL 32960.

Oh the precious memories we have of spending time with Butch and Margaret!
We loved working with them and worshipping with them in Vero.
Our excursions included going to stock car races, driving to Plant City looking for fresh black-eyed peas and then shelling them in the car on the way home.
We especially treasure our times together in the mountains of NC going to craft fairs, historical sites, taking hayrides, and going on scenic drives to see the waterfalls, changing colors of the leaves and shopping at the Farmers Market in Asheville. We look forward to seeing them again when the Lord calls us home!

Butch painted our apartment in Vista Royale and enjoyed a slice of cake each morning before work with my husband and I... Rest In Peace Butch and thank you for all your help. We know you will be missed.
