KENNETH WESSEL Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Strunk Funeral Homes and Crematory - Vero Beach on Oct. 21, 2025.

Publish in a newspaper

Kenneth L. Wessel, 82, of Vero Beach, Florida, passed away peacefully at home on October 19, 2025. A distinguished leader in the fragrance industry and a devoted family man, Ken lived a life defined by professional excellence, generosity, and community service.

Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, Ken was the only son of Selma and Raymond Wessel. He began his career in the fragrance industry at Procter & Gamble, working in the fragrance lab while attending night classes at the University of Cincinnati. His passion for sales led him to New York with his wife, Carol, where he joined DeLaire Inc. After many successful years in the industry, Ken founded Wessel Fragrances Inc. in 1988, establishing a respected and enduring presence in the fragrance world.

Throughout his career, Ken was known as an entrepreneur, trusted business partner, and mentor to many. He was deeply committed to advancing the fragrance industry through his involvement in professional organizations, serving as President of the Fragrance Materials Association from 1986 to 1988, contributing to the boards of RIFM, IFRA and CTFA. In recognition of his many contributions, he received the Eric Bruell Distinguished Service Award in 2007.

Ken and his beloved wife, Carol-who predeceased him after 49 years of marriage-made their home in Manhasset and later in Sands Point, New York, before retiring to Vero Beach. Together, they shared a deep commitment to giving back, supporting Hospice Care Network and Family & Children's Association on Long Island. In Vero Beach, Ken continued this legacy through his support of the John's Island Foundation and the Boys & Girls Clubs.

Ken is survived by his daughters, Beth Wessel of Huntington, New York, and Christine Maresca of Garden City, New York; his cherished grandchildren, Ryan, Luke, and Katherine Maresca; and his son-in-law, Edward Cranston.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to one of the charities that meant so much to Ken and Carol:
