Calvin Compton Obituary
Born on July 14, 1942, in Baltimore, Maryland, Calvin was the son of the late Calvin Lamont Compton, Sr. and Margaret Wade Compton. He was the esteemed third-generation owner of Compton Bus Services, a School Bus Contractor for the Charles County Board of Education. Calvin was a life member of the La Plata Lions Club and the La Plata United Methodist Church. He was also a respected member of the Grace Church Waldorf for the past 25 years. Calvin served in the Air Force as a reservist for 30-years. He was a dedicated leader for the Maryland School Bus Contractors, and a long-term member of the Charles County Chamber of Commerce. He was designated with a lifetime achievement of the 4-H club. Calvin was a dedicated town councilman of Port-Tobacco, the oldest incorporated town in Maryland. Notably, Calvin obtained a bachelor's degree and graduated with honors from the University of Maryland and entered work in the family business after graduation.
In addition to his parents, Calvin was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Catherine Ann Compton; and his son Scott Allen.
Calvin is survived by his children, Keith Compton, Major James Compton, and Margaret St. Clair; brother G. Wade Compton; and grandchildren Peyton and Connor St. Clair, Margaret Edith Allen, Josiah Compton, and Carson Compton.
A visitation will be held on Thursday June 13, 2024, from 4:00PM until 7:00PM at the La Plata United Methodist Church, 3 Port Tobacco Road, La Plata, Maryland 20646.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 14, 2024 at 11:00AM at the La Plata United Methodist Church, 3 Port Tobacco Road, La Plata, Maryland 20646. Interment will follow service at the Dentsville Methodist Cemetery, 11950 Charles Street, La Plata, Maryland.
If desired, memorial contributions in memory of Calvin Compton may be made to the La Plata Lions Club, 9730 Crain Highway, Bel Alton MD, 20611.
