Clifford Compton Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Johnson-Arrowood Funeral Home on Jan. 30, 2026.
ROGERSVILLE - Clifford "Cliff" Compton, 61, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, with his family by his side.

Clifford was born in Sullivan County, TN on May 6, 1964, to his parents, the late Norman and Vernie (Light) Compton. He was a lifelong resident of the Beech Creek Community. Just two weeks ago on Sunday, January 18, 2026, at Mount Carmel Freewill Baptist Church, Clifford opened the door and let the Lord into his life and gave his life to God and it was the best decision he had ever made. We have complete peace in knowing he is completely healed and walking on those streets of gold. We look forward to the day we see him again, and we know he'd want the same for all his family and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Terri (Gooch) Compton; niece, Tiffany Compton; and his brothers, Eugene and Grallin Compton.

Clifford is survived by his daughter, Michelle Casteel; son, Cody Compton; stepdaughters, Candida Henegar and Brooke Wills; stepson, Steve Allen Gooch; grandchildren, Kaylin Compton, Shelby Wills, Cody Casteel, Harley Casteel, and Briana Casteel; great grandchildren, Blake Casteel, Ezra Casteel, Eli Casteel, Bailey Casteel, Elliot Casteel, Adeline Casteel, and Paxton Casteel; brother, Randall and his wife, Jody (Gooch) Compton; two nieces, Shandeeda and Jessica Compton; and a special friend, Bill Banks.

A visitation will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 PM on Monday, February 2, 2026, at Johnson-Arrowood Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Tim Jarrett officiating.

In lieu of flowers, for those who feel led to help, contributions toward funeral arrangements may be made to Johnson-Arrowood Funeral Home or through the Tribute Fund link below.
