Charles Edward Crigger, 82, of
Surgoinsville, TN, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at Holston Valley Medical Center surrounded by his loving family after an extended illness.
Born October 22, 1943, in
Kingsport, TN, Charles was the son of the late Carl and Nannie Crigger. He proudly served his country in the United States Army, serving in the 76th Artillery in Korea beginning in 1961, and was honorably discharged in 1964. A faithful church member, Charles was an active attendee of Tabernacle Baptist Church in Kingsport and served for approximately 40 years serving in several roles, including as a deacon at Boones Creek Bible Church.
Charles retired from Eastman Chemical Company after 29 years of dedicated service. Known for his servant's heart, he was always ready to lend a hand-through church ministries, family support, or helping friends. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. In retirement, Charles and his wife Linda enjoyed traveling, spending time with their grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and visiting family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Nannie Crigger; his sister, Evelyn Henderson and husband, Kenneth; brothers Junior Crigger, Clifford Crigger and wife Mary Sue, Gene Crigger, and his twin grandsons, Christopher and Joshua Dickison.

The visitation will be 10:00 AM-12:00 PM on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at Johnson-Arrowood Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 12:00 PM. The graveside service will follow after at Mountain Home National Cemetery at 2:00 PM. Those wishing to attend please meet there by 1:45 PM.
We are forever grateful to the family and friends who visited and supported us and we are especially grateful to PTA Dewayne Smith for helping keep Dad moving; to the compassionate VA nurses and doctors for their exceptional care and for providing the equipment that allowed us to care for Dad at home; to the Cornerstone Caregivers team for giving Linda much needed relief; to the exceptionally skilled team at Holston Valley Medical Center D500 ICU; to our family and friends who sustained us with snacks, prayers, and words of encouragement during Dad's three week hospital stay; to palliative care nurse Brittney, who guided us through the final stage of Dad's care; and to the Wilcox Hall staff for their compassionate support during Dad's final hours-care and kindness that freed him from pain and illness and allowed us to release him to his heavenly home with his personal Lord and Savior.
Wade Dickison, Danny Jones, Stephen Dickison, Thomas Dickison, Andrew Grzelka, and Connor Grzelka will serve as pallbearers.
Pastor David Hodges and Pastor Dale Cunningham have been providing support to the family during this transition.
