Calvin “Nukey” Hendrix Cook III, 58, passed away at his home on Monday, October 7, 2024.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, October 12, 2024, at Wilkerson Funeral Home with Pastor Pete Hutchens officiating. The family will receive friends Friday from 6-8 PM at the funeral home and other times at his sister’s home. Burial will follow the service at Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
Calvin was born in Rockingham County to Mary Elizabeth Moore and the late Calvin Hendrix Cook Jr.. Nukey was employed with Impact Fire Services, where he enjoyed his work. He was a skilled pipe fitter and foreman, who was blessed to work alongside his dad and brother for many years. Those who knew him, know he had a deep love for racing, racing was in his blood. Nukey was a tire man, actually the best tire man for his brother. After Rodney’s death, he became Jason York’s tire guy and mentor they developed a brotherly relationship. He was also a mentor to Jason's son, Jamie York. Racing throughout the years brought him joy and lifelong friendships. Nukey also had a passion for golf where he would spend time with his best buddies. His real true love was for his wife and kids. He was a member of the First Church of the Living God. He loved his family and always found a way to make them laugh. He was known by many and loved by all.
Along with his father, he is preceded in death by his daughter, Christina Cook; brothers, Dion and Rodney Cook.
Nukey is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Wendy Pierce Cook; mother, Mary Elizabeth Moore; children, Sarah Elizabeth Cook, Nikolas Lucas, Jacob Lucas and Nellie Lucas; sisters, Pam Wilson (Devin), June Dunn (Shawn); nieces, Brittney Manuel (Corey) and Kimberlyn Cook (Alex); nephews, Dylan Dunn (Julia), Noah Wilson (Maggie), Caleb Wilson; several great nieces, nephews and a large and loving group of extended family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Church of Living God Fellowship Hall fund at PO Box 334 Reidsville, NC 27323.
