Calvin Randolph Dominowski was born December 22, 1958 in Appleton, WI to Jerome and Patricia Dominowski (nee Coleman). In 1975, the family moved to Washington, where Calvin resided until his passing of cardiovascular disease on June 8th, 2025 in Edmonds, WA.
Calvin was known to many as Cal, Cali, Cally, Domo and the family favorite Rudolph! Since he was born at Christmas what sibling could resist a lifetime of teasing him with that! His middle name came from Randolph Scott, an actor clearly that our Mother loved. But throughout our house you could hear us all singing Rudolph the Rednosed Reindeer randomly throughout the year to get on his nerves, but we can't seem to recall him complaining about it, what a good sport!
Cal's love for cars and mechanics started at an early age when he had fun taking bikes, stripping them down, and rebuilding them by swapping parts. Until the paddy wagon came and he had to spend hours at the police station putting them all back to their original form lol!! Funny story now!
Cal's childhood was spent in Appleton enjoying family trips to Partridge Lake, playing kick the can, marbles in our front yard pit, setting up make-shift wrestling mats in the living room, and giving everyone "The Claw". One of his favorite things was summertime, when the boys would set up tents in the back yard and live out there all summer!! They'd go to Fishers Creek and catch bullheads and bring them home to our make-shift pond next to the garage, annoy the neighbors with smoke bombs, and steal my best friends Girl Scout cookies! Cal loved being a part of those days growing up with his brothers!
Cal attended Nathan Hale High School in Seattle, and afterwards went on to become an ASE Certified Master Technician. He and brother Keith were the proud owners of One Stop Auto Shop on Lake City Way for many years, where Cal could always be found working in the shop with a tool in his hand! I remember him having a huge Snap-On tool chest and always joking he wanted to be buried in that. Although we can't honor that, we will reunite him with his childhood home, and some of his favorite spots, with the spreading of his ashes in Washington and Wisconsin, which he recently spoke about. Cal loved NASCAR and his favorite driver was Richard Petty #43, his favorite drag racer was "Big Daddy" Don Garlits and Cal's favorite car was the 67' Dodge Charger, which at one time he owned 3 of them!
Cal was the pitcher of their softball team, The Hot Rods, and they won their Seattle division! The team went onto Salem, Oregon for a tournament. Although they only played 3 games they had a lot of fun with the team, of course enjoying bar hopping!
Calvin had a hard life, some things he chose and some things chosen for him, but we are eternally grateful that he accepted Christ and found peace living on the water in Edmonds this past year. He told me he felt he was right where he was supposed to be, and I find comfort in that.
Cal was preceded in death by his parents: Jerome Dominowski and Patricia Coleman, his grandparents: Beatrice and George Deltour, John Dominowski and Marie Coleman, his aunts and uncles: Carol and Eddie Witthuhn, David Coleman, Gerald Coleman and Edward Coleman, niece: Sasha Giacomo, nephew: Kris Coventry, sister-in-law: Nichole King.
Cal is survived by his siblings: Jim Burton (Sue), Dan Burton (Jean), Melissa Holland (Andy), Keith Dominowski, Bruce Dominowski, Janet Coleman (Scott), his niece: Jessica Hill (her son Colton), nieces: Rebekah and Amanda Holland, nephew: Mike Burton (Liz), nephew: Donovan Cadelina, and many cousins.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to KC O'Connor and Rob Hauge for everything they have done to help and support Cali over the years, they have been a blessing! Rob told us a story that when he and Cali would work together Rob would sing to annoy him. Joke was on Rob, as Cal loved it!
The family asks to take time with those who knew and loved Calvin, tell stories of his life and pray for his eternal peace.

Mechanics Prayer:
Lord, grant me the wisdom to realize that my
country is a country on wheels, and that I am
dedicated to keeping those wheels rolling.
Make me thankful that I am a man who, with
training, has chosen to help others with less
talent than I.
As I do my daily work, help me always to remember
that I hold a life in my hands as I fasten a nut,
repair a brake or adjust the power steering.
Let me not forget that, as I do my job,
my reputation, will reflect my efforts.
Give me good judgement so that I will not take
foolish chances to save a few seconds of
time, make me realize that I cannot replace
an eye or hand as I can replace a
headlight or a fender.
And, Lord, let me enjoy my work. Confident in
the knowledge that my job is essential to the
welfare of my fellow man. Keep my head high.
For I should be proud that I am a good mechanic,
a true skilled professional dedicated to the
service of others.
