In Loving Memory of Calvin Gene King. On August 9, 2025, the Lord called home Calvin Gene King of Valley Road, Caldwell, Ohio. He passed peacefully in his sleep at OhioHealth Southeastern Medical Center in Cambridge, with his heart still tethered to the farm he loved so deeply.
Born September 17, 1948, he was the son of the late Gene King and Betty King Kiggins and a 1966 Graduate of Shenandoah High School.
Calvin was a truck driver by trade and a farmer by heart. He drove truck going by the CB Handle of "Wild Man" for many years, building lasting friendships along the way, and farmed his entire life. For all his years, he worked the hay fields and cared for his animals. His love for horses, especially the gentle strength of draft horses, reflected his own spirit: steadfast, strong, and quietly noble. Even in his final hours, Calvin's thoughts were of the hay fields, the animals, and the work still to be done - because farming wasn't just his livelihood, it was his calling. And no one dared tell him he had to stop farming.
He was known to many as a great son, brother, dad, pap, papaw, and a loyal friend. As well as a neighbor you could always count on. With hands and a mind that could fix almost anything and a heart that gave freely, Calvin built a life of service, honesty, and love. His work ethic was unmatched, and his faith in perseverance was unshakable. Calvin's life was a testament to hard work, perseverance, and a deep care for helping others.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by an infant daughter Melissa Ann King and infant sister Anna L. King.
Calvin's life is celebrated and his memory cherished by his children, Michael A. (Fiancée Amber Davis) King, Heather J. Ebert partner Jeremy Byers their children Alexandria, Noah, Brayden, and Ian; great-grandson Kaden; Tisha K. King her children Arnie and Ty; his beloved fiancée Nancy Lorentz her children and grandchildren Michele (Fiancé Craig), her children Alyson and Zoey; Stephanie (Kip) Malone her children Katie, Timmy, and London; his brother, Lorin (Linda Warner) King; his sister Leatha (Travis) Warner; and a community of very special friends and neighbors who were blessed to know him.
Though his presence will be deeply missed, Calvin's legacy will live on in every hay field, every horse cared for, and every act of kindness done in his honor. Calvin leaves behind not just memories, but a legacy of grit, kindness, and the quiet strength of a wonderful man. We rejoice in knowing he has found eternal rest, free from pain and suffering, in the arms of his Savior.
