Calvin K. "Cal" Langley was born in Sidney, NE on March 30th, 1951 to Dale Langley and Virginia Zimmerman. He grew up in Potter, NE with his siblings, LaVonne, Russ, Larry, and Steve where he played football and worked in the harvest field with his dad. Shortly after high school, he joined the guards during the draft. After six years, he returned to work in the oil field. Following that, he and his wife Susan, purchased Goodyear Tire with his partner Kae Nelson where they spent multiple years serving the Sidney community. Following that he spent the rest of his career driving many Peterbilt semis doing just about any haul. Anyone who knew Calvin knew just how hard of a worker he was, and this was something he did until the last year of his life. He was not the "sitting around" type.
Calvin married the love of his life, Susan Jane Phillips on September 27, 1969, in Sidney, NE. He was a very loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, brother, and friend to all and shared a very ornery personality to all he encountered. He spent his life working hard and was proud to be over the road. Driving the semi took him on many adventures over the country and he was not afraid to tell anyone the fastest route to just about anywhere. When he was not working, you could find him surrounded by his family, blowing something up, or on the water fishing. He loved his family dearly and would do just about anything for them.
Calvin will be missed dearly and is survived by his wife Susan of 54 years; their children: Chris Langley and fiancé Fran of Sidney, NE and Melissa Deal and husband Mark of Sidney, NE; grandchildren: Madi Langley and fiancé Dylan of Dalton, NE, Kaylee Deal of Kearney, NE, Nathaniel Deal and fiancé Alexea of Sidney, NE, Hannah Langley of Sidney, NE, Colby Langley of Sidney, NE, Payton Langley of Sidney, NE, and Allison Deal and Nick Lingle of Sidney, NE; step-grandchildren Haile and Karli Christofferson of Lincoln, NE; great-granddaughter Brooklyn Brenner of Dalton, NE; brothers Russ Langley of Rowland Heights, CA, Larry Langley of Sidney, NE, and Steve Langley and his wife Patty of Sidney, NE and many extended family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, mother and father-in-law, Theda and Mike Phillips, his sister and brother-in-law LaVonne and Jerry Christensen, and sisters-in-laws Ida Langley and Karen Langley.
