Calvin Mabson Obituary

He was born in Lexington, Kentucky on Tuesday, December 24, 1946. Mr. Mabson was a retired employee of the University of Kentucky where he worked in the Air Medical Services department both as a driver and a dispatcher. Calvin had an interest in aquariums and enjoyed tending to his two large aquariums, fish and his fur babies. He also enjoyed watching sports, especially UK Basketball and Football. Faith was an important part of Calvin's life, and when possible he attended the House of God in Lexington and the Ringos Mills Christian Church.
Survivors include: his wife of 28 years, Barbara Hignite; his children, Victoria Lynette Mabson, Calvin Mabson, Jr., and Travis Mabson; his sisters, Pauline Taylor, Mattie Graves, Debra Taylor, and Karen Young; his brothers, Ethelbert Taylor, Jr. (Donna), and Andrew Taylor; his sister-in-law, Joann Craft (Gregory); as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends who loved him dearly.
He was preceded in death by: his mother, Helen Mabson Taylor; his step-father who raised him, Ethelbert Taylor, Sr.; his father, Calvin Wright; his sisters, Mary Magdalene Taylor, Joan Carol Taylor & Victoria Lee Taylor; his nieces, Nakeisha Denise Taylor & Amaya Taylor-Sandifer; and his in-laws, Charley & Marrina Hignite.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 4:00 PM Friday, August 15, 2025, at the Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home, W. Main St., Richmond, with Bro. Rick Hackney officiating.
The family will receive friends for a time of visitation starting at 2:00 PM Friday, at the funeral home.
Private burial will take place at the Oakland Cemetery in Carter County, Kentucky.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Calvin are suggested to the: Ashland Animal Rescue Fund (AARF), 12365 Kevin Ave., Ashland, KY 41102, or to an animal rescue of your choice.
