Mrs. Letha Madden Scott, 78, of Berea, passed away on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at Baptist Heath – Richmond.
She was born in the Tyner community of Jackson County on November 21, 1946, the daughter of the late Clarence & Charlotte Witt Madden. At a young age, Letha started working at the local restaurant where she was a car hop – it was at that place, and on a set of skates, that she met her future husband, McArthur Scott, who made lots of extra trips for ice cream. After getting married in 1968, Letha & Mac would soon settle in Madison County where they raised their family and made a lifetime of memories until his passing in 2013.
Letha was an avid clogger and you could find her often at events with the McHargue Cloggers, and any chance she had, she would attend classes or workshops to enhance her skill.
However, Letha's greatest job was that of being a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. She was an excellent cook that knew how to make a country style meal like no other – pork chops, green beans, and let's not forget the cornbread were the staples that you would rarely find left over following a meal. She was always busy, spending time with her family and friends, but when 2 o'clock came, everyone knew it was time for her to sit down and enjoy a cup of coffee, often with a friend.
Survivors include: her daughters, Robyn Koger & Lisa Garrobo (Steve); her grandchildren, Graydon Koger (Savannah), Gavin Koger & Cruz Garrobo; a special friend who she claimed as her own "bonus grandchild", Jonathan Anderson (Alesha), and their two children; one brother, Charley Madden (Joyce); and one sister, Patsy Smith (Frank); as well as a host of extended family and friends.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Scott was preceded in death by: her son, Ryan Scott, three brothers and 1 sister.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Thursday, October 16, 2025, at the Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home, W. Main St., Richmond, with Bro. Dwight Northern officiating. Burial will follow in the Madison County Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be after 11:00 AM Thursday, at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be: Cruz Garrobo, Graydon Koger, Gavin Koger, Jonathan Anderson, Logan Smith & Wayne Scott.
