Calvin "Buddy" McKenzie born in Pike County on January 6, 1953, passed away at the age of 70 on Tuesday, March 28, 2023 in Mc Comb, MS, after a lengthy illness.
Visitation will be held Friday, March 31, 2023 from 1:00 PM until funeral service at 2:00 PM at Hartman Jones Funeral Home. Dr. David Millican will officiate. Burial will be in Navilla Baptist Church Cemetery.
He is preceded in death by a brother, Tommy McKenzie; his parents: Jesse and Clara Lofton McKenzie; and two sisters: Barbara McKenzie Jones, & Patsy McKenzie Walker.
He is survived by a brother, Joe McKenzie (Mary Ann) of McComb, MS, and a sister Judy Schepens (Henry) of Long Beach, MS and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
Buddy lived most of his adult life in Baton Rouge, LA. He was a hard worker with many skills. He owned his own business leveling houses with laser precision for years and was an ace mechanic specializing in small engine repairs. He loved most all home cooking but his favorite was red beans and rice which he was ready to eat at any meal!
Buddy moved back home in 2019 and enjoyed visiting with family and friends. He loved for his brother to bring his guitar and come and sing for him and the other residents. He was sure to let 'Ol Joe know when his guitar needed tuning! He was affectionately known as Uncle Buddy and loved looking at family pictures, eating chocolate ice cream, watching old westerns, and listening to music. He was not ashamed to say "Amen," "Thank You," "I love you too, Babe," and will be greatly missed.
A special thank you to the wonderful care received by the staff at Courtyard Rehab and Healthcare, Compassus Hospice, and Hartman-Jones funeral home.
