Roebuck, SC-Calvin Leroy Waldrop Jr, passed away on Wednesday, December 18th, 2024.
Calvin was born on July 27th, 1945 in Spartanburg, SC, to the late Calvin Leroy Waldrop Sr. and Margaret Mason Waldrop. Calvin retired from Bi-Lo Supermarket after a long career as a butcher. He proudly served his country during the Vietnam War in the US Navy, on the USS William C. Lawe, earning the National Defense Service Medal. After the war he went on to marry the love of his life, Rometta “Robbie” Mooneyham Waldrop, who passed away in 2020 after 48 years of marriage.
He is survived by two sons, Tony Parris of Spartanburg, SC and Todd Parris (Angie Gregory) of Campobello, SC; a daughter, Tonya (Chadwick Sims) of Spartanburg, SC; eight grandchildren; Arieal Parris, Michael Parris (Misty), Gracie Proffitt, Mason Blackburn (Allie), Callie Pinkleton, Ranger Sims, Zack Riggs (Christina), and Gabbie Lieberman (Bryan), eleven great grandchildren; DJ, Ana, Storm, Acelynn, Rose, Sabrina, Elliott, Jameson, Lani, Atlas, and Emery, and a brother, Rev. Ray Waldrop.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his brother, Tommy Waldrop.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, 1-2PM at the J.M. Dunbar Funeral Home.
Funeral services will follow in the Chapel at 2:00PM, conducted by the Rev. Ray Waldrop.
Burial will follow in Heritage Memorial Gardens with military honors.
