Calvin Wang

Calvin Wang, a beloved son, devoted father, dependable brother, and cherished friend, lived life to the fullest until it was unexpectedly cut short on July 15, 2023, in Virginia Beach, Virginia, at the age of 37. Born in Taiwan on July 14, 1986, Calvin immigrated to the United States at a young age with his family and quickly hit his strides in his new home.
Calvin proudly served in the United States Navy as a Chief Petty Officer. He was a natural leader: humble and always putting others before himself, he strove to see only the good in people and every situation. He sought excellence through continuous self-improvement, both physically and mentally, and was on a path to a career in technology.
There was no one closer to Calvin's heart than his son, Jason. Calvin prioritized providing the best for Jason and showering him with love. No matter how busy or tired Calvin was after a long day, he always had time for Jason; teaching him, caring for him, and reading bedtime stories each night. A patient and loving father, Calvin never raised his voice, instead he chose to lead by example and with gentle guidance.
Calvin's parents will remember him as a gift from heaven. His sister will remember him as her closest childhood companion who became an exemplary man. His extended family will remember all the love and care that Calvin gave them. Calvin's friends will remember his trustworthiness, his unwavering support in tough times, his deep love and respect for the U.S. Navy, and how he exemplified the core values of the Navy.
Calvin Wang is survived by his beloved son, his parents, his sister, a large extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins, and many dear friends.
A funeral service to honor Calvin's life will be held on Monday, August 14th, 2023, 10:30 AM at JEB Little Creek-Fort Story Chapel, 1160 D St., Virginia Beach, VA 23459. He will be laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery. May his legacy live on in the hearts of those who loved him, through his son and his surviving family, and may his story help others navigate the hardest of challenges.
