In Remembrance of Calvin Bernard (Bibby) Wilson Calvin Bernard (Bibby) Wilson was born June 19, 1950 to the parentage of Geneva Cheatham Wilson and Emmitt Wilson, Jr., in New Llano, Louisiana. He was the second child and first son born into the family. He grew up on "Wilson Hill" in Dago Quarters surrounded by his paternal grandmother, uncles, aunts, cousins and extended family (Fishers, Johnsons, Martins, Smiths, Williams, Wells). It was in this nurturing, welcoming, loving environment of weekend BBQs, fish fries and family gatherings that he and his siblings and cousins thrived and learned the importance of family relationships. Calvin graduated from Vernon High School, class of 1969. After deliberations with family and friends, he decided to enlist in the US Army. He proudly served our country well for twenty-three and one-half years. He and Patricia Diane Wilson (deceased) were married, and they were parents to Shawn, Tremaine, and Marc. They resided in Maryland for several years. Following his retirement from the US Army, he continued his semi-military career by working as a government contractor at the Aberdeen Proving Ground, securing another retirement check as he put it. In later years and following the transition of the mother of his children, Calvin and Delores Trice were married. They relocated to their hometown of Leesville, Louisiana. They united with Mr. Zion United Methodist Church, Calvin's home church of 3 generations. He became the "go to" member at Mt. Zion, i.e., church treasurer, trustee, maintenance man, you name - he did it. He was known to just go by the church daily and walk through it, even when there were no planned programs or activities. He served dutifully and efficiently as the church treasurer faithfully - faithfully until he was unable to do so. Calvin was the leader of our family and he cherished that role. He loved his family, the Mt. Zion Church, the New Orleans Saints, movies and cooking/entertaining family and friends. He will be sorely missed by all who were blessed to know him. Calvin transitioned Sunday, August 24, 2025. Left to cherish precious memories are devoted wife Delores, daughter Shawn, sons Tremaine (Sharon), Marc, Cameron and Collin, granddaughter Nicki (Derrick), grandson (Cairo), great-grandson Noah, grandsons Trayvonne, Marquan and Micah, siblings sister Jackie, brothers Erwin, Bruce (Vivian), Cartelis Sr. (Sharon) and Quintin, Sr., nieces Ain, Neetra, Aaliyah, Dorien and Brielle, nephews Thornton, Cartelis Jr., Ian and Quintin Jr., step-children Anthony (Anita) Robinson, Tanya Spencer, Amaya (Chris) Spencer, Raymond Trice, Ray'Vin (Josh) Ford, Antonia (Keynon) Demons, devoted aunts Mary Cheatham and Vivian Wilson and numerous Cheatham and Wilson family cousins and his Army buddies. He is also survived by an additional host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will cherish his memory. We will go on, but it just won't be the same without Bibby. The viewing will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, August 29, at New Willow Baptist Church (443 Red Town Rd, Leesville, LA 71446), followed by the homegoing ceremony at 10:30 a.m. A full military honors service will be held at 12:30 p.m. at the Central Louisiana Veterans Cemetery (3348 University Pkwy, Leesville, LA 71446).
