Horan & McConaty Funeral Service & Cremation - Northwest/ArvadaCameron Donald Ross, age 86, passed away in Golden, Colorado, on March 12, 2026. Don was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and a respected figure in the civil engineering and construction community.
Born and raised in Royal Oak, Michigan, Don’s love for golf began in his youth, where he spent countless hours, both playing and caddying. He graduated from Dondero High School, where he met the love of his life, Judith Veronica (Judy) Ross. Their partnership began early and flourished through the decades.
Don attended Lawrence Technological University on both Academic and Athletic (Golf) Scholarships, earning a degree in Civil Engineering. He pursued his career diligently, studying for and obtaining his Professional Engineering License. After establishing himself in Michigan’s civil industry, Don and Judy, along with their four children, made the bold decision to move West to Colorado. There, they founded R&D Pipeline Construction, Inc. in 1985. Under Don’s leadership, the company became a cornerstone in Metro Denver and along the Front Range, where he was known for his integrity, expertise, and dedication to the highest standards of civil infrastructure.
Don was renowned for his strong work ethic and straightforward wisdom. Among his favorite expressions were, “Excuses are Unacceptable. Reasons will be Considered,” and the memorable, “You’re fired,” both of which reflected his commitment to accountability and excellence.
Don is survived by his beloved wife, Judith Veronica Ross; his children, Amanda Jane Woods (Thomas R. Woods), Daniel Bruce Ross (Susan A. Ross), and April Anne Ross; his grandchildren, Emily Claire Lindemann (Riley W. Lindemann), Savannah Jane Bollacker (Kyle Bollacker), James Ross Woods, Maxwell Cameron Ross (Alexandra K. Ross), Shelby James Maschari (Courtney N. Maschari), and Alejandro Mena Ross; and his great-grandchildren, Norah Jay Lindemann, Felicity Iris Bollacker, Remy Jane Lindemann, Tavish Daniel Bollacker, Lincoln James Maschari, and Jackson Cameron Maschari.
