Camille Proctor Berry went to be with her Lord on July 30, 2025. Camille Berry was born August 24, 1920, in Dublin, Georgia, to the late Roberta Jordan Proctor and the late William Jefferson Proctor. She was the older of two children, having one brother, the late William Jefferson Proctor, Jr. She was educated in the Dublin Public Schools and attended Atlanta Division of University of Georgia (now Georgia State University.) She joined the First Christian Church at an early age. She studied voice and piano with a number of teachers and choir directors. She married Thomas Jacob Berry on January 25, l945 and joined the Presbyterian Church with him. They were married for 70 years, spending their lives together in Griffin. To this union were born three sons: Thomas Jacob Berry, Jr., Robert Proctor Berry, and William Ambrose Berry. She is survived by these sons and her daughters-in-law: Rebecca B. Berry and Dorothy Z. Berry. Also surviving are her grandchildren: Dr. Anna Berry and husband John Chescavage; Harriet Berry Tidwell and husband Jason Tidwell; Alex Berry and wife Ayako Ohkawa; Brett Berry and wife Samantha Berry; and Alice Berry. Also surviving are six great grandchildren. Additional survivors include her sister-in-law Elizabeth Dennard Proctor and several nieces and nephews. As part of the war effort, Camille wanted to do her part and she found a position at the Brunswick shipyard, ultimately rising to the position of assistant safety engineer and office manager of the Shipyard Safety Program. After the war, she worked at the Griffin First Methodist Church Weekday Kindergarten for 24 years, serving as director for 13. After retiring she volunteered at Head Start. She and her husband volunteered for the American Cancer Society. Camille and her husband were also members of the Griffin Spalding Hospital Auxiliary and were recognized for serving over 8,000 hours. She was a member of the Griffin Music Club serving in many capacities and also spent many hours volunteering at her church. She and her husband sang in church choirs for over a combined 100 years. In lieu of flowers, Camille would be honored by memorials to the music ministry of First Presbyterian Church of Griffin. The family wishes to convey its sincere thanks for the care provided by Abide Home Care and Eternal Hope Palliative and Hospice Care. In accordance with Camille's wishes a graveside service is planned for Sunday, August 3, 2025, at 10:00 AM in the Old Section of Oak Hill Cemetery with her nephew Reverend Bill Proctor officiating. Such a special, sweet and Godly woman. I am so thankful that she was a part of my life as a friend, neighbor and fellow believer. Rest in peace dear friend.

My sincere sympathy to the entire family who lost this wonderful lady. She lived life fully. I thought of her often although I only knew her through Dorothy her daughter-in-law. She seemed like a wonderful lady. I'm in my seventies and I often thought of her when I complained about my aging. What a presence she must have been. I am happy that little Claire has a great grandmother who knew about her to brag about.

I will always remember Jake and Camille in church and particularly in choir. They were both such important parts of our congregation. Their relationship with each other was a wonderful example of marriage and service to their community. Tom Baynham
