In Loving Memory of Camille Josephine Maciel
April 13, 1997 – October 17, 2025
Camille Josephine Maciel, beloved daughter, sister, granddaughter, cousin, and friend, passed away suddenly following a brief but fierce battle with APML leukemia. She was 28 years old.
Born in Anaheim, California on April 13, 1997-after three long days of labor-Camille entered the world during Easter season, a time of renewal and hope. From the very beginning, it was clear she was someone truly special. Her radiant spirit and boundless energy lit up every room she entered.
Camille's early years were spent in Garden Grove and Westminster, where she attended Iva Meairs Elementary School and Warner Middle School, playing RBI softball and forming lifelong friendships. At Westminster High School, she lettered in both volleyball and softball, earning the prestigious title of Athlete of the Year. She was also a huge advocate of the WHS AVID program, and was giving back as a tutor when they achieved National Demonstration Site Status. Something she was extremely proud of and near and dear to her heart.
Her academic and athletic journey continued at Golden West College, where she played softball and earned her Associate's Degree in Liberal Arts and Humanities. Camille later graduated from Cal State Fullerton with a Bachelor's Degree in Communications and emphasis in Public Relations a milestone she reached through sheer determination and hard work-balancing her studies with jobs at Angels RBI coaching and interning, JCPenney, La Petite Academy, and eventually the LA Chargers. There was never a time where she only had one job.
Camille's passion for sports extended far beyond the classroom. She proudly represented the USA Softball organization AIST in international tournaments across Europe, playing in Belgium, France, and neighboring countries. These experiences were more than just games-they were bucket-list dreams fulfilled and friendships forged for life.
Her career blossomed as she immersed herself in the sports industry. Camille attended Women in Sports networking events, often serving as a guest speaker and panelist. She worked as a stage manager for the LA Galaxy, earning a coveted MLS Cup ring-bling she wore with pride. She simultaneously joined the Anaheim Ducks' street team, rising to lead their Kids Club in their Fan Development department and helped launch a literacy program for elementary school children.
Camille's dream came full circle when she joined Angels Baseball, first part-time and then full-time as their Game Presentation and Events Manager. It was a role she had envisioned since childhood, when she played RBI softball and trained at Angel Stadium. Her first season was a triumph, and she was eager to build even bigger and better events. Her dream job had finally become reality.
Camille's life was a testament to perseverance, passion, and purpose. She leaves behind a legacy of joy, inspiration, and community impact.
She is survived by her loving parents, Ray and Candace Maciel; her sister Carrina Pluma and brother-in-law Brandon Pluma ; her brother Ryan Maciel and sister-in-law Holly Maciel; her cherished grandmother Sandy Roman and loving Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins. Camille's memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
Her light may have dimmed far too soon, but the warmth she brought to this world will never fade.
