Dr. Jan Buhrmann

Dr. Jan Buhrmann, age 70, of Osage Beach, Missouri passed away on February 6, 2026, surrounded in love by her family.

Jan was born on April 25, 1955, in Orange, California to Duane and Marlene (Kay) Eastburn.

Jan graduated from Westminster High School in Westminster, California, then went on to pursue higher education at the University of Texas at San Antonio and later the University of Colorado in Boulder, where she earned her PhD. Her career culminated at Illinois College, where she served with distinction, and passionately supported her students and fellow faculty until her retirement. Beyond her professional life, she found joy in travelling the world, cooking, contra dancing, and was a tireless advocate for animal and environmental rights. At the heart of everything she did was her family, who remained her greatest source of pride, connection, and love.

Jan is survived by her husband Dale Mueller; her daughter Amy Vincze; her grandchildren Gabriel Vincze and Jaden Vincze; and her siblings Darin Eastburn, Debbie Robinson, and Johnna Shapiro; among many other beloved relatives and friends.

A celebration of Jan's life will be held from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm on March 28, 2026, at Faith Lutheran Church, 1385 W. Walnut St., Jacksonville, IL 62650.
