Candace Robertson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Northside Chapel Funeral Directors and Crematory on Mar. 27, 2026.
Candace ("Candy") Sibbick Robertson, 75, of Alpharetta, Georgia, passed away on March 9, 2026. She was born in Buffalo, New York, in 1951 to William and Janet Sibbick.

Candy attended Martinsville High School in Virginia before studying business at the University of North Carolina Greensboro. There, she was a member of the women's golf team, earning All-American honors three times and helping lead her team to the NCAA Women's Championship in 1973, where she individually placed third. Her love of golf began in childhood and remained a constant throughout her life. In addition to her collegiate success, she won numerous tournaments, including the Virginia State Women's Amateur Championship in 1974.

Following college, Candy built a successful career in banking, serving clients in a variety of roles over the years. She worked with several institutions, including Wachovia, Bank of North Georgia, and Signature Bank of Georgia. In the final decade of her career, she became a trusted risk consultant to banks across the country in the wake of the 2008 financial crisis.

In retirement, Candy and her husband, Mike, made their home full-time in the Big Canoe community near Jasper, Georgia, in the house they built together. She found great joy in gardening and was always adding something new to their beloved home. A dedicated member of her community, she served as President of the POA Board and enjoyed many rounds of golf with friends. She and Mike also spent time restoring their sailboat on Lake Lanier and cherished visits with their five grandchildren.

Candy was preceded in death by her parents and by her husband of 51 years, her high school sweetheart, Michael Robertson.

She is survived by her two daughters, Marion (Ben) Boyd and Kate (Steve) Saussy; her five grandchildren, Everett, Miles, Clara, Reid, and Graham; and her brother, Bill (Beth) Sibbick.

In memory of Candy, donations may be made to the UNCG Women's Golf Enrichment Fund.

The Big Canoe Women's Golf Association will honor Candy with a 21 Ball Salute on April 1, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. Her family plans to spread her ashes alongside her husband Mike's in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia later this spring.
