Candace C. “Candi ” Young (Thoren)
Age 78 of Crest Hill, IL, formerly of Orland Park, IL, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at Lightways Hospice, Joliet, IL.
Candi was born in Evergreen Park, IL to the late Earl and Elayne (nee Deerwester) Thoren. Beloved wife of the late Wayne J. Young; loving mother of Kristin (Brian) Barry, Amy (Michael Baker) Young, Rebecca (Bryan) Everett, and the late Wayne Robert Young; cherished grandmother of Hope Barry, Hannah Barry, Maeve Barry, Meara Barry, Katie Baker, James Barry, Maggie Baker, Lizzie Baker, and Atticus Baker; her loving and devoted caregiver Surmira Williams; loved aunt, cousin, and friend of many.
Candi was a lifelong American Saddlebred Horse enthusiast. She loved spending time with family and friends, especially her grandchildren. Known by many as “Grandma C Birds”, Candi will be missed by all who knew and loved her. The family will receive friends at St. Dennis Catholic Church, 1214 S. Hamilton St, Lockport, IL on Thursday, March 6, 2025, from 3:00 pm until time of Memorial Mass at 4:00 pm.
