Candice L. Edwards-Dickerson was born on July 25, 1985 in New Haven, CT to Dawn D. Edwards-Ragland and the late Eric F. Dickerson in New Haven, CT and received her wings on Saturday, September 30, 2023.
Candice also known as "Candy Cane" was the first-born grandchild which made her "EVERYONE'S" baby. Always sweet, quiet, and lovable, she was the "favorite" of many. Coming from a big family, she grew up with her cousins, them being so close in age, they were raised more like siblings. Especially Candice and Shonda; they were a force to be reckoned with. She absolutely loved spending time with her cousins and if you don't know, there are many.
Being such a mild-mannered little lady, she was doted on by her parents, grandparents, aunties, uncles, godparents, and even the neighbors. She was also our "Jimmie's Seafood baby". At a young age, instead of wanting regular fast food like cheeseburgers, she acquired a love for fried shrimp just like her Grandma Freda. However, as cheerful as she was, she was a fighter! Our very own sickle cell warrior- fighting chronic illness all her life; she was resilient and did it with grace.
Educated in New Haven public schools, she graduated from Wilbur L. Cross High School. A few years later she and her high school sweetheart Jefferey embarked on a journey of co-parenting, providing the best for their son Jefferey, Jr. and making him their priority. Despite being young parents, together they always made sure "Stink" was well taken care of. LOVE capitalized is the best way to describe the way she cared for and felt about her baby boy.
Candice cherished spending time with her son Jefferey "Stink" Thompson, Jr. who meant the world to her. Being big sister to Shanell and Aniyha, was a job she was great at; however, auntie was one of her favorite titles. She loved showering her niece with gifts. Shopping, reading, crossword puzzles, watching youtube videos, collecting designer Barbie dolls, and buying SHOES were favorite past times. Candy Cane has one of the "baddest" collections of shoes around.
If you were not aware, she was a great conversationalist. If you ever needed a late-night talking partner, Candice was indeed your girl. She could spend an entire overnight work shift with you talking about fashion, social media news, and more.
In addition to her son Jeff, Candice was affectionately loved by her stepfather Ryan Ragland, her special dad Glenn Murphy, and her longtime companion, Jefferey Thompson, Sr.
She also leaves to mourn, her little sisters whom she loved so dearly, Shanell Murphy and Aniyha Ragland; niece, Kelsie Williams; maternal grandmother, Alfreda J. Edwards; and paternal great-grandmother Trudy Dickerson.
Left to cherish her memory, her uncles, Martin L. (Kosha) James, Miles Q. (Regina) James, Anthony (Gail) Moye, William P. Fore, Arthur J. Edwards, III, Albert Justice Dickerson, Tyrell Arrington, Tayree Arrington, and Albert Jibron Bowman; aunts, Michelle Moye, Dana Edwards (Robert) Rawls, Regina Moye (Ricky) Bynum, and Kimberly R. Edwards; and Godmothers, Trinene Davis and Stephanie Willis. She will indeed be missed by all her cousins whom she loved dearly, notably Lashonda Edwards and Stefanie Dickerson who were close-knit throughout their formative years.
Candice was predeceased by her maternal grandfather, Arthur J. Edwards, Jr.; paternal grandmother, Deborah Dickerson; paternal great-grandfather, Eddie Dickerson, Jr.; uncle, Albert Sheron Dickerson; Godfathers, Steven Rountree and Kurt Flegler; Godmother, Tonya Russell; and cousin, Benjamin A. Brown. Candice was truly an angel. She will be missed.

Candice was such a sweet young lady. I will never forget the time I stopped by her house and we talked for a long time. I gave her some advise, we talked about lil Jeff and a lot of other things. Candice was so humble and soft spoken, it was like she didn´t have a care in the world. She was so unbothered and didn´t let anything get to her. She was a true warrior. I will always be grateful for your kind caring heart. Candice you will forever be in my heart. I miss you already. May Yahuah give the family comfort and strength in the days ahead. Heaven gain a special angel. Til we meet again Love Lawanda (Jess mom) Riparadise Candice
