Candy Renee Simmons, 55, of Camden, NC passed away peacefully at her residence on Saturday, July 27th, 2024.
She loved her husband and kids more than anything. She never met a stranger and would never let anyone go without. She was an educator who thought of her students as her bonus family. You could always find her near a softball field or watching it on tv. She dedicated her life to Christ and was one of the most kind and compassionate people.
Her youngest daughter, Carleigh, found a note that Candy had written nearly nine years ago that goes as follows:
"If something were to happen to me, I want each of my children to know that I love them more than anything in this world. Casey was my first chance at being a mom and taught me what it was to have unconditional love for a child. When Korey was born, I knew from the first moment I laid eyes on him that he would always be a mama's boy. Kevin has always been my strong, quiet one that I love to see smile. Carleigh is my precious baby girl that has always been my shadow. I love you each for who you are and for the way you each make me proud to be your mama. I also know how much each of you love me. Don't ever doubt that I knew that. To my hubby, I thank you for the past 25 years and for the love that we have shared. You always made me feel like I was the only woman in the world for you. I love you. Please make sure my mom and dad know that I love them and that I am so grateful for having them as my parents. To the rest of my family and friends, I love you and thank you for being a part of my life. Please help take care of Kenny and my children. They are and always will be my world. I'll be watching over each and every one of you from Heaven!"
She is survived by her beloved husband of 34 years, Kenny; her four children, Casey, Korey (Jordan), Kevin (Elizabeth), and Carleigh; her sister, Dawn (Bo); her father, Gordon; her best friend, Michelle (Scott); and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her mother, Peggy, and her grandmother, Dorothy.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, August 1, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at Twiford Memorial Chapel with the Rev. G. Clay Manos officiating.
