Mrs. Carey Clarke Collinsworth Holt, age 82 of Anderson, SC, passed away on August 27, 2025, at AnMed Medical Center in Anderson, SC with her immediate and extended family by her side. A celebration of life will be on Saturday, September 13th at 3:00PM at First Baptist Church in Americus, GA. In honor of Carey's memory, lunch will be served at the Church prior to the service at 1:00 PM. The family will greet friends prior to the service at 2:00PM in the church service hall. Immediately following the service, there will be a graveside service at Oak Grove Cemetery in Americus, GA. The public is invited to attend as Carey would have it no other way. The Reverend Keith Parks will officiate both services. Carey was born on April 30, 1943, in Atlanta, GA. She was the daughter of the late Mr. Horace Stafford Collinsworth, Jr., and the late Margaret Jane Clarke Collinsworth. She was preceded in death by a brother, Horace Stafford Collinsworth, III. She graduated from North Fulton High School in Atlanta, GA in 1961 where she was a majorette in the high school marching band and was an All-State swimmer on the swimming team. Carey would later attend the University of Georgia where she was an ADPi. When Carey was sixteen, she went on a blind date and met the love of her life, Clifford Raymond Holt, Jr., who was playing football at Georgia Tech at the time. They would later marry in 1963 and would remain married until Carey's passing. They were together for an incredible 66 years. Carey and Raymond would relocate to Americus, GA in the spring of 1965, where they would live for 55 years until they relocated to Anderson, SC to be closer to family. Carey was a homemaker and loved her family fiercely. She was an active member of First Baptist Church and the Charlie Gibbs Sunday School class at First Baptist Church for close to 30 years. She sang in the choir and was an important member of the hand bell group. She loved music, especially Christian and Christmas music. Carey had a vivacious personality and truly never met a stranger. She would seek out strangers at restaurants or any public gathering to find out more about them, especially if they had children. Carey had numerous friends whom she loved dearly. She had a unique way of making everybody feel important and people genuinely loved being in her company. Carey is survived by her loving husband Raymond Holt, Jr., a sister Camilla Jane Collinsworth Cruikshank of Buford, GA, a sister-in -law Brenda Collinsworth, a son Cliff Holt of Atlanta, GA, a daughter Amy Smith (Alan) of Anderson, SC, a son Clarke Holt (Tia) of Athens, GA, a granddaughter Carey Freiler (Ricky) of Anderson, SC, a grandson Chandler Holloway (Mary Catherine) of Savannah, GA, a grandson Collin Holloway (Katherine) of Americus, GA, a grandson Connor Ash of Anderson, SC, granddaughters Claire Holt and Caroline Holt of Athens GA, Palmer Smith of Anderson, SC, Connor Smith of Syracuse, NY, and great grandchildren Chavigny Jane Freiler and Charlcie Anne Freiler of Anderson, SC, Finn Holloway of Savannah, GA and Holt Holloway and Charli Holloway of Americus, GA. She is also survived by her adorable Malchi, Archie, several cousins, nieces, and nephews. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to The Charlie Gibbs Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church, Americus, GA, The Sumter Humane Society, Americus, GA, or Southland Academy, Americus, GA.
