Carl E. Abbott, 82, of Franklin, passed away on May 11, 2025. He was born on April 11, 1943 in Anniston, Alabama to the late Edward C. Abbott and Phyllis Abbott (Zike), Walter Zike (stepfather).
Graduating in 1961 from Manual High School in Indianapolis, IN, he worked 37 years for National Printfast, rising to the position of Vice President before retiring in 2004.
Carl was an avid sports fan who demonstrated devoted loyalty to the Cincinnati Reds and the Alabama Crimson Tide. He also found tremendous happiness and pride in watching each of his grandchildren participate in all of their sports and activities. During his retirement, Carl found joy and fulfillment in wood-working in his garage, where he built hundreds of children's toys for donations, gifts, and sale at various markets.
Carl was a long-time 3rd degree member of the Knights of Columbus council 3660. He was also a former President of the Indianapolis Craftsmen's Club
Survivors include children Brian Abbott (Evelyn) of Sarasota, Florida, John Abbott (Amanda) of Franklin, Indiana, Missy Marsh (Scott) of Nicholasville, Kentucky, grandchildren Sydney Abbott (26), Jessica Abbott (26), Jack Abbott (25), Mark Abbott (24), Luke Marsh (21), Kennedy Marsh (20), Callaway Marsh (18), and Kellen Marsh (14).
He was preceded in death by his wife Patty, and brother David Zike.
Visitation will be on Thursday, May 15, from 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM at G. H. Herrmann Greenwood Funeral Home at The Gardens of Olive Branch, 1605 S. State Road 135, Greenwood, Indiana, with the Funeral service at 6:00 PM.
Memorial contributions may be made to Johnson Co. Humane Society.
