Carl Adametz Obituary
Of Forest Hills, age 86, died on Monday, December 18, 2023.
Carl was the beloved husband of the late Marie K. (Polaritz) Adametz for 63 years.
He was the loving father of Robert (Rosalia) Adametz of Penn Hills, Denise (Bill) Sherer of East McKeesport, Catherine (John) Tysarczyk of Penn Hills, Adriene (Mark) Manning of New Florence, Carl S. (Gina) Adametz of Rainier, WA and Brian (Taryn) Adametz of Wilkins Twp.
Carl is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, his sister, Judith (Martin) Reinsdorf of Crafton and his godson, Vincent (JoLynn) Reisdorf.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Donald Adametz.
After his graduation from Connelly VoTech, Carl served his country in the U.S.Navy aboard the USS St. Paul. He then embarked on a career as a typesetter with Pickwick Morecraft Co. After that business closing, he drove a school bus for Woodland Hills High School and earned an Associates Degree from Penn Tech Institute while attending night classes. He later became employed as an Electronics Technician with Diebold and while attending night classes, earned another Associates Degree from CCAC South. That degree was in Horticulture and proved valuable when Carl became a groundskeeper and gardener at Edgewood Country Club for many years.
Gardening was his favorite pastime but he also enjoyed bicycling, and coaching for the Forest Hills Midget football team when his boys played.
Friends are welcome on Wednesday from 6-8pm and Thursday from 2-4 & 6-8pm at Patrick T. Lanigan Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 700 Linden Avenue at Cable Avenue, East Pittsburgh (412-824-8800).
Mass of Christian Burial will be prayed in St. Maurice Church of St. Joseph the Worker Parish on Friday at 11 a.m.
Carl will be laid to rest in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies on Tuesday, December 26 at 11 a.m.
