Carl Edward Bacon

CRAWFORDSVILLE-Carl Edward Bacon, 85, of Crawfordsville, Indiana and formerly of Rockville, passed away Wednesday, December 25, 2024, at Franciscan Health Hospital in Crawfordsville. He retired from Eli Lilly and Company Clinton Laboratories with many years of service.
He was born March 29, 1939, in Morley, Tennessee to the late William Edward Bacon and Ruthella Smiddy Bacon. Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Dorothy Louise Blankenship Bacon whom he married May 7, 1960, in Indianapolis. Also surviving, two sons, Ron Bacon of Lafayette and Gary (Rhonda) Bacon of Crawfordsville; four grandchildren, Lisa (Alex) Gillham, Monica Bacon, Kayla (Michael) Lang, and Cassi Bacon; three great-grandchildren, Archer and Lilia Lang, and Henry Edward Gillham; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Bobby Gene Bacon and an infant brother.
He was a 1958 graduate of George Washington High School in Indianapolis. He was a member of the Rockville First Baptist Church serving as a deacon and treasurer. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed fishing and woodworking.
Services will be 2:00 pm Saturday, December 28, at Gooch Funeral Home, 112 W. Howard Street, Rockville, with Marc McClure officiating. Burial will follow at Beacon Hill Cemetery south of Rockville. Visitation is 12 noon until 2:00 pm Saturday at Gooch Funeral Home.
