Darrell Clayton Bacon

Darrell C. Bacon, age 94 of Chatfield passed away, surrounded by his family, at the Chosen Valley Care Center on Monday, November 17, 2025.

Darrell Clayton Bacon was born on October 4, 1931 in Preston to Clayton and Doris (nee Winslow) Bacon. He lived in the Preston area, working for his uncle on his farm in Lanesboro and graduated from Preston High School in 1949. He worked at the gas station in Chatfield and during this time he met his wife Lois Jean Narveson and they married on September 18, 1954 in Rochester. They lived in Chatfield and Darrell worked for Marigold Dairy as a milk delivery man for 42 years. He moved to the Chosen Valley Care Center in 2022 and was a well known and loved resident there. Darrell was a member of the Chatfield United Methodist Church. In his younger years, he was a member of the Lions Club and Jaycees. He enjoyed camping when his children were young and became an avid reader in his later years. Darrell enjoyed leisurely walks and time with his family.

Darrell will be missed by his children Terry (Kim) Bacon of Lake City, Debra (Brian) Nelson of Eyota, Diane (Edward) Bale of Rochester, Barbara (Brian) Buchanan of Stewartville and Steven (Lori) Bacon of Hastings, grandchildren T.W. (Marcie), John (Brenda), Matt (Megan), Kael (Liz), Jason (Shannon), Jessica (Trevor), Jenna (Arrott), Dustin, Darin, Cassie, Cody, Jacob (Siri), Eric and Ben. He is further survived by 14 great-grandchildren and one brother Duaine Bacon.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Lois in 2017, brother Jerry , sister Joyce and one great grandson, Jacob Bale earlier this year.

Funeral services for Darrell will be held at the United Methodist Church in Chatfield on Saturday, November 22, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Nissa Peterson will officiate. Steven Bacon will be the soloist with Bobbie Kehret, accompanist.

Visitation will be held on Friday, November 21, 2025 at Hoff Funeral Home in Chatfield from 5-7 p.m. and again at the church one hour prior to services.

Burial will take place in the Chatfield Cemetery.
