Carl Bobo Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Brent Taylor Funeral Directors on Mar. 2, 2026.
Carl Fred Walter Bobo was born December 16, 1943 in Cushing, Oklahoma. His loving parents were Lonnie Lewis Bobo and Ida Caroline Grace Oestmann Bobo. He is survived by his wife of almost 42 years, Carolyne Noah Hutson Bobo of Germantown, Tennessee, his sister, Lucille "Luci" Perdue (Larry) Edmond, Oklahoma, and five children: Craig Hutson (Merschon), Brad Bobo (Amy), Leeanne Smith (Edward), Adam Hutson (Seán), and Carla Moreland (Michael). His much-loved grandchildren are Ryann Bobo, Grace Moreland, Bryce Bobo, Zoe Moreland, and Rubye Smith. He was "Uncle Carl" to Sara Perdue-Cantrell (Ron) and Justin Perdue (Shannon)(children)Tripp, Rhett, and Jessie. He was survived by a well-loved brother-in-law, Tom Noah and was also loved like a brother by many of the West Tennessee Hutson family.

Carl grew up on the farm amid a large family of Oestmanns. He graduated from Oklahoma State University in Agriculture Education. He served seven years in the Army National Guard and worked for Shell Oil and Dupont in the Agricultural Chemical field for decades, first in research and development and in later years, in sales. Upon retirement, he further developed his hobby as a craftsman into a business, Manor House. As a member of the Guild of Master Craftsman of Suffolk, England, he used self-taught skills to build custom mirrors, window treatments, and decorative accessories in the 18th century style. His beautiful work was sold by design firms in major U.S. markets and exhibited globally.

Growing up in the country, he grew up with a deep and special love for all animals, and as an adult especially treasured the dogs and cats in his home. Hard physical work was always a pleasure, but he was also was an avid reader, predominantly non-fiction. His greatest passion was people, whether his decade-long friendships at various coffee-shops, his steady encouraging visits to shut-ins and folks in the hospital, he loved "a good visit". He was a go-to guy if you needed help or just needed an encouraging listener. The words most often used to describe him are: gentle, kind, sweet, good-natured, caring…what a legacy!

He was faithful in his beliefs and loyal to God. He was an active member of the Sycamore View Church of Christ, but he worshipped best when caring for others, whether neighbors, friends, or strangers.

A Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2026, beginning at 2:00 p.m. at Sycamore View Church of Christ, 1910 Sycamore View Road in Memphis, Tennessee 38134. A Memorial Service celebrating his life will follow at 3:00 p.m.

Those wishing to honor his memory may consider a donation to Page Robbins Adult Day Center in Collierville, Tennessee, or Agape Child and Family Services in Memphis, Tennessee. If sending flowers, the family respectfully asks that lilies not be included due to a family allergy.
