Johnny E. Davis

Beloved father, husband, brother and grandfather, Johnny Eugene Davis was born on June 23, 1944, and lived his whole life in the Memphis area, passing from this world on January 7, 2026, at 81. He was always a towering presence in the lives of those around him and will be greatly missed.

He graduated from Hollywood Elementary, Tech High School, and Memphis State University. After receiving a Bachelors in Business Administration, he worked as an executive at Sears for his entire 40-year career. He married Nancy Faye Hindman, in 1967, and raised three children, inspiring in each an unfailing sense of loyalty, hard work, and a strong moral character. Over the years he coached many a kid's ball-team, and was an avid outdoorsman as well as a gifted welder, bricklayer, builder, and artisan. But above all he was a devoted, lifelong member of the Church of Christ, serving as deacon at Mountain Terrace. He and Nancy later moved to Quail Ridge, followed by Germantown Church of Christ, to be closer to their beloved grandchildren.

Johnny was predeceased by Nancy Davis in 2023, and is survived by his children Kelly Shifflett (Jason), Kevin Davis (Angie) and Kirk (Kathryn Stamps); his sisters Gail (Jim, deceased) and Joyce Spencer; grandchildren Kasey, Brody, and Mickey Davis; Ainsley, Vespa, Sasha, and Pippa (Shifflett); nieces and nephews Deborah Kelly (Damien), Caitlin Bente (Will), Chris Ham (Kimberly), Kraig Keeling (Rosa) and Caroline and Dominic Mateo Keeling.
