Carl Files, Jr. Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Singleton Funeral & Cremation Services, P.A. on May 8, 2025.

It is with deep sorrow that we share the news of the passing of Carl Wesley Files, Jr., who left us on May 7, 2025, in Glen Burnie, Maryland.  Born on August 30, 1953, in Baltimore, Maryland, Carl lived a life marked by dedication and love, a legacy that will endure through his family and the community he cherished.

Carl was a devoted husband to Angela R. Files, with whom he celebrated a wonderful union of 40 years.  Together, they built a life filled with affection, respect, and support for one another. He was a proud father to Carl W. Files, III and Melissa Fitzcharles, whose achievements and happiness brought him immense joy.  As a grandfather, he cherished each moment spent with his beloved grandchildren: Anna, Ariel, Carl IV, Emma, Jane, Thomas, and Joshua Files, and Jayden, Alice, and Elijah Fitzcharles, who were the lights of his life.

A humble man of integrity, Carl dedicated many years to his profession as a security guard at BWI Airport, contributing to the safety and well-being of countless individuals.  Education was important to Carl; he graduated from Northeast High School, setting the foundation for a fruitful life that he would share with others.

Beyond his career, Carl's passions defined much of his existence.  He found joy in a variety of hobbies, from bowling and umpiring to his unwavering support for local sports teams, including the Baltimore Colts, Ravens, and Orioles.  A true sports enthusiast, he also loved NASCAR and NHRA drag racing—activities that brought him joy and camaraderie.

Carl’s proudest accomplishments included serving as a 4th District umpire for little league baseball and softball, where he inspired countless young athletes with his guidance and commitment.  Additionally, his 52-year membership in the Sun Valley and Riviera Bowl duckpin bowling leagues showcased his dedication to sport and community.

He is survived by his sister, Gloria Morris; niece, Terri Poe; and nephew, Keith Morris, who will remember him fondly and carry forward his legacy of kindness and sportsmanship.  Carl was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Anna Lou and Carl Files, Sr., who instilled in him the values he carried throughout his life.

As family and friends gather to celebrate Carl’s life, we invite all to join in remembrance.  Visitation will be held on May 12, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and again from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Singleton Funeral and Cremation Services P.A., located at 1 2nd Ave S.W., Glen Burnie, MD 21061.  A heartfelt celebration of his life will take place on May 13, 2025, at 12:30 PM, also at Singleton Funeral and Cremation Services P.A.

Carl Wesley Files, Jr. will be remembered not only for his unwavering spirit and laughter but for the love and light he brought to all who knew him.  He will be deeply missed but forever cherished in the hearts of those he loved.
