Carl F. Gilbert, 84, of Hamilton, NJ, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 9, 2025, in the comfort of his home.
Carl Gilbert was born in New Brunswick, NJ, to the late Carl and Margaret (McDonnell) on June 8, 1941. He lived in Sayreville, NJ until he graduated from high school in 1960. He graduated Nichols College in Massachusetts in 1964 with a BA in Business Administration – Marketing major.
From 1964-1967 Carl served active duty as 1st Lieutenant, Infantry in the United States Army (US and Vietnam). He received the Bronze Star for Meritorious Achievement in General Operations Against Hostile Forces and the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry.
Carl attended Mercer County Community College, Rider College and Monmouth College for continuing education and earning his MBA.
He worked for Bristol-Myers Squibb for 31 years as Manager of Marketing Financial Services. In his free-time he enjoyed participating in 10K races and was an avid golfer who enjoyed working and playing at the county golf courses. For years he was an AARP volunteer assisting senior citizens with their taxes.
Predeceased by his parents, Carl and Margaret Gilbert; his sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Norby Smith; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Dr. Stanley Apple and Virginia Apple; and his brother-in-law, Kevin Apple. Carl is survived by his wife of 40 years, Elizabeth Apple Gilbert; his two daughters, Heather O'Connell and her husband, Timothy of Titusville, NJ, and Adrienne Marchioni and her husband, Raymond Pierce of Hamilton, NJ; his two sons, Sean Gilbert and his wife, Randi of Raleigh, NC, and Christopher Chiarkas and his wife, Andrea of Hamilton, NJ; and his 11 grandchildren. Carl is also survived by his brother-in-law, Ben Apple (his golfing buddy for many years) and Darlene Busacca of Hamilton, NJ; and his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Carolyn and David Kozlowski of Sarasota, FL.

Cremation services will be private under the direction of the Saul Colonial Home, 3795 Nottingham Way, Hamilton Square, NJ.
